As part of continued growth and expansion, a manufacturer of polystyrene products for the construction industry has installed a new polystyrene pre-expander.

Fercell were contracted to design and install a ventilation system to service the XPS machine located within one of the production halls.

An Extraction Solution

Whilst in operation, the polystyrene pre-expander emits gases, steam and vapour, all of which need to be removed from the production hall and exhausted to atmosphere after cleaning via the filter.

As the gases stream can contain fine particulate the exhaust duct is equipped with F9 fine particle filtration.

The steam and vapour exhaust duct was designed with a fall, to promote free flow of any liquid which may build up in the system.

While both exhaust systems utilise Fercell ‘kwik-fix’ galvanised clip ducting system, the steam line is equipped with an external drain pipe and collection point.

The system is designed to effectively capture and remove airborne contaminants from the production hall, while using F9 high efficiency fine grade filters, allowing for high working temperatures, whilst delivering maximum filter velocity and minimal pressure drop. This ensures the indoor environment remains clean and contaminant free.
