Processing waste wood onsite not only reduces waste disposal costs, but it can also create a biomass resource, providing further savings on operational heating costs, or alternatively, biomass material can be sold for profit.
WEIMA shredders are ideal for processing a wide range of types of waste wood, including hardwood, softwood, MDF, veneer, plywood and pallet waste. Shredded output in the form of wood chips provides a sustainable renewable resource, which can additionally be further processed into high-density wood briquettes.
A Fercell installed industrial size reduction system provides a solution for a construction company to utilise their grade A and B waste wood to form P100 biomass fuel for use in a heating system.
Industrial Recycling Solution
The system includes a WEIMA S7.25 single-shaft shredder with a motorised enclosure, an outfeed conveyor equipped with a permanent drum magnet and overband magnet, and a fine dust extraction system.
Designed to handle throughputs of up to 3,000 kgs per hour, the WEIMA S7.25 offers a high-capacity solution. Mixed waste wood, including production waste and construction and demolition waste, is effortlessly broken down into homogeneous-sized wood chips.
Waste material is loaded into the hopper via lifting machinery for shredding. Smooth operation of material is achieved, as processed shredded output is transported via an outfeed swan-neck belt conveyor to a designated collection area.

Featuring an automatic reversing system, the S7.25 offers an extremely robust solution, and the ability to handle foreign material entering the shredder hopper. This functionality is controlled through a PLC control system, which also provides a touch display control for the complete recycling system, facilitating user-friendly operation.
No material preparation is required, as any nails or screws are removed from the product stream via an overband magnetic facility on the outfeed conveyor. Ferrous tramp metal is collected in a custom container, allowing for easy removal of waste.
User-friendly maintenance is achieved with the S7.25 motorised enclosure, also including a lift-up screen basket for straightforward service access to the rotor.
The WEIMA heavy-duty V-rotor, with 40 x 40 mm cutting knives, can be rotated several times to achieve maximum throughput at low wear costs.
Customised for Purpose
WEIMA shredders are available with a range of customisable options, and the featured WEIMA S7.25 installation is no exception. In this case, it has been equipped with a remotely controlled, motorised retractable hopper roof, delivering multiple practical benefits.
Outdoor installation is therefore no issue, with the roof providing added protection against harsh environmental conditions when in the closed position. When retracted, the hopper roof allows easy loading of material by lifting machinery. Even when closed, the hopper curtain still permits manual loading when required.
Operating with the roof closed also assists with dust control. A blower filter dust extractor, connected directly to the WEIMA S7.25 hopper, removes fine dust generated during the shredding process. Heavier dust particulate is discharged via the elongated base into a dedicated collection container for disposal, while cleaned air is exhausted to the atmosphere through the upper vent aperture.
The recycling system allows construction waste to be transformed into a resource. This not only reduces operational costs in the cooler months but also contributes to a greener footprint.
